Tracy Thomas Boland, a partner at Morgan, Brown & Joy LLP, will discuss the MA Pay Equity Act, which goes into effect on July 1, 2018. This law requires that employees of different genders in “comparable” positions are paid the “same” wages. This law also significantly affects the questions employers can ask about wage history in the interview process. Tracy will review the requirements of the law and the Attorney General’s long-awaited and recently-issued guidance. Tracy also will explain how to undertake the “self-evaluation” that affords businesses great protection in the event they are sued under this law, and she will address the most commonly asked questions her client have been posing about how to comply with this law.
