FACILITIES DESCRIPTION:
Wampanoag Country Club is a full service, family oriented private country club. Our members enjoy the area’s most challenging golf course, quality dining, social activities and a swimming complex that boasts a Championship Junior Swimming Program. Our renowned laid-back atmosphere provides the perfect setting for member enjoyment and relaxation.

Dining facilities include a banquet room that can accommodate up to 200 guests, patio for outside functions that can accommodate up to 75 guests, private meeting room that can accommodate up to 20 guests and a Bar/Dining area that can accommodate up to 60 guests. The cornerstone of our club is a classic 18-hole championship golf course built in 1924 and designed by the world-renowned architect, Mr. Donald Ross.

Our golf course offers the finest quality Bent Grass greens, fairways lined by gorgeous mature trees, Kentucky Bluegrass rough and flowing fescue grasses. The “Wamp” is known for its fast, yet true putting surfaces and the strategic placement of its bunkers, ponds and creeks located throughout the course. We were thrilled to accept the 2012 Distinguished Club Award from The Connecticut State Golf Association. Wampanoag has a rich history hosting numerous Connecticut State Amateur Championships, both Connecticut Men and Women State Opens and has been a qualifying site for the United States Open.

The club received much notoriety during our early years from our celebrated Head PGA Golf Professional, the late Mr. Bob Kay. He served the membership for over 40 years, played in the 1956 Masters and still holds the course record of 62, which he shot three times. He played at Wamp with many legends of the game, including Ben Hogan, Sam Snead and Arnold Palmer. The course measures 6,610 yards from the Blue tees, 6,413 from the Whites and 5,532 from the Forward tees. The course is rated 72.5 with a slope of 133 from the Blue tees and provides enjoyment and challenge for players of all ability levels. A practice range and putting green are also integral parts that compliment the golf course. Wampanoag Country Club is located in West Hartford, Connecticut off North Main Street (Route 218), across from Northwest Catholic High School. We are just minutes off I-84 and I-91 and one mile north of Bishops Corner on the West side of the street. Wampanoag Drive can be easily identified when you turn at the sign for Northwest Catholic High School.

OPERATIONS & MEMBERSHIP:
Wampanoag operates as a first class private country club. Our members enjoy casual club style dining in the Bob Kay Room and in our Main Dining Room. However, the most popular and unique dining area is our outdoor patio, which offers spectacular sunset views overlooking our signature 18th hole, Talcott Mountain and The Heublein Tower. Our function rooms accommodate wedding receptions, business meetings and other special events. In addition to the many member golf tournaments and special events, golf outings may be hosted on a Monday or Tuesday. Membership in the club is by invitation and is subject to review and approval by the Membership Committee. Golf membership is limited to 350, which eliminates the need for tee times. The club is proud to offer a variety of Golf classifications along with Social and Non-Resident memberships.

CANDIDATE QUALIFICATIONS:
This position entails active involvement in our member recruitment and retention efforts as well as creating new banquet sales opportunities. The Director is responsible for identifying and enrolling new Members. In addition, they must nurture relationships with existing Members so that they will invite their friends and colleagues to join. This position is an integral part of the management team as they are responsible for the development and implementation of marketing strategies, development of programs to increase membership sales and promote a positive image for the Club. They will attend activities with Members and their guest in order to demonstrate "Pride in Belonging." A key component of this position is public and community relations, specifically ability to effectively network and represent club in the community.

ATTRIBUTES, REQUIREMENTS AND EXPECTATIONS:
Our Club is looking for an outgoing, polished, enthusiastic people person. The candidate must be a team player and have a passion for exceptional hospitality while understanding the value of developing long lasting, professional relationships with management, staff and Club members. They will create and implement the club's marketing and sales objectives, ensure the enrollment process is complete and record all Membership profile information. Well-developed verbal and written communication skills are critical. In addition the candidate will create and execute all function sheets for member/non member functions as well as complete and record all billing transactions for private functions including but not limited to golf outings and parties. The candidate will be required to run/oversee some functions from time to time at the club and ensure that the highest level of service and execution is delivered at all times. This job will require you to work from time to time more than a five day work week as well as exceed a forty hour work week as well.

JOB VALUE/COMPENSATION:
Competitive compensation package will be commensurate with experience and qualifications, health benefits with partial employee contribution, commission for sales and new members.
