JOB OPENING TITLE:
Founded in 1916, The Augusta Country Club is a private country club located in Manchester, Maine. The Club includes an 18 Hole Par 70 course described in 2012 as “Maine’s Little Monster”. The front nine holes were designed by Wayne Stiles and John Van Kleek and the back nine were designed by Donald Ross. Picturesque views of Lake Cobbosseecontee and challenging terrain make this course enjoyable round after round. The club offers a full service Pro Shop and driving range. Golf is complimented by two har-tru tennis courts and a beach with boat access on Lake Cobbosseecontee. The ACC Clubhouse includes a variety of dining and meeting spaces for use by our members. The Clubhouse also hosts numerous weddings and outside functions through the April-December season.
The General Manager shall be the Chief Operational Officer of the Club and is responsible all aspects of the Club’s operations, including: • Works with the Board of Governors to execute the Business Plan, with a specific focus on Membership Recruitment and Retention and growth in club revenues necessary to sustain a private country club experience • Hires, supervises, and manages the department heads, and, in conjunction with the appropriate committee, develop the annual goals and programs for each department • Works with the Finance Committee and Business manager, develops the annual budget and hold department heads accountable for achieving budget targets • Provides leadership and direction for the Business Office and Clubhouse Operations. • Instills the highest standards for customer service and quality of product: delivers best in class golf course conditions, facility appearance, and staff interactions Specific Responsibilities In conjunction with the club Board of Directors, establishes the overall business strategy and operating standards of the club. Maintains and grow membership through excellent customer service and effective marketing. Manages member perceptions by maintaining a visible presence in the operation and communicating frequently and thoroughly with the membership. Provides the Board with timely and accurate financial and operational information required to oversee and govern the operations of the Club Develops and executes marketing plans which generate leads and expand our membership and outside function revenues.
Establishes and ensures compliance with club operating standards and policies. Develops and manages annual operating and capital budgets to guide the financial performance of the club. Monitoring and establishing accountability for operating performance of all departments. Ensures the club’s legal compliance with all aspects of federal, state, and local laws. Candidate Qualifications A proven track record in business management. Proven ability managing Profit & Loss and developing and managing budgets. Solid understanding of accounting & finance. Experience in restaurant operations or a private golf club setting preferred but not required. Bachelor’s Degree or equivalent experience – In Hospitality Management, Business Administration, Golf Club Management and Operations, or Marketing. Solid time management, organization and prioritization skills. Excellent communication skills, leadership skills, the ability to develop employees and foster a team environment. Sales and marketing abilities: able to develop and execute outreach programs to generate awareness and interest in our offerings.
