Tumble Brook Country Club, in Bloomfield, Connecticut is located just north of Hartford. The City of Hartford is the state capital and located less than two hours from Boston and New York. Hartford has big city amenities with a quaint New England setting and the region offers residents unparalleled living options. With two of the nation's top 100 hospitals, highly ranked educational institutions, beautiful suburbs and abundant parkland, the Hartford region is also an excellent place to raise a family. FACILITIES DESCRIPTION:
Since its founding in 1922, Tumble Brook Country Club has grown in three distinct phases, each one marked by nine holes embodying the vision and spirit of its age. Together, its 27 holes form one of the state's most enjoyable and perfectly maintained golf courses. It is also one of the most scenic, with impressive views of Talcott Mountain to the west and downtown Hartford to the south. 14,000 rounds are played annually.
Tumble Brook also enjoys a distinguished reputation for providing the finest food and service among all the country clubs in the region. In addition to special offerings each night, the menu is well known for gourmet Chinese specialties. Additional features include five Har-Tru tennis courts and two lighted platform tennis courts, a 25-yard heated swimming pool, supervised kiddie pool, summer camp and play area and ample private party facilities. The pro shop, snack bar, pool facility and golf course have all recently been remodeled and upgraded.
Tumble Brook Country Club has 280 members. Gross dollar volume $3.5 million, dues line $2.3 million, Food Sales $1 million and Beverage Sales $205,000. The 40,000 square foot clubhouse facilities include a ballroom with seating for 250, a grill room (seating for 128), and patio (with seating for 60). The Men’s and Ladies card rooms are also used for private functions. The food and beverage operation has substantial levels of private party and club function activity. CANDIDATE QUALIFICATIONS:
The General Manager will develop and lead a strong management team. This club is seeking a leader to take it to the next level in a professional, member-pleasing, cost-effective manner. The 5 key requirements are:
· Very strong marketing and member relationship skills to promote the club’s services and facilities to potential and current members
· Five or more years experience as a General Manager or Assistant GM at a club of similar size and scope or larger with proven expertise in Food and Beverage operations and event planning and management
· Sound fiscal and financial management abilities to develop, coordinate and manage the club’s annual operating budgets
· Strong leadership skills, including staff development and mentorship
· Ability to provide consistently high levels of member service
The ideal candidate will:
Keep the board informed of internal and external trends, especially as they impact operations and the ability to attract and retain new members
Bring a fresh perspective to the delivery and execution of club events
Have an eye for detail
Communicate effectively with members of all ages, the club’s governing board, staff and department heads.
Enhance the existing member communications programs
Operate with a “no surprises” mindset
Possess a strong background and experience in the organization and operation of sports facilities
Work well with committees and be able to capitalize on member involvement and participation in the committee process
Consistently demonstrate a high level of visibility at the appropriate times to insure member satisfaction at all levels
Possess a hospitality or business degree and the CCM designation or substantial and vigorous progress towards this recognition is considered a distinct plus
COMPENSATION:
A competitive total compensation package will be developed for the successful candidate commensurate with experience and qualifications. The standard benefits, including a CMAA package, will be included.
