The Carnegie Abbey Club is a private waterfront sporting club set on Narragansett Bay in Portsmouth, RI, minutes from historic Newport. The Clubhouse has a Dining Room, Fitness Center, Pool, Spa and private residences. The estate sits on 400 acres and consists of an 18 hole Scottish Links style golf course, Equestrian Center, two (2) Har-Tru Tennis courts, Marina and private residences. There are currently over 300 memberships being utilized.

LEAD LINE COOK

FACILITIES DESCRIPTION:

POSITION QUALIFICATIONS:
Carnegie Abbey Club is looking for a Lead Line Cook who is a hard working self starter that is passionate about food and what they do to join our culinary team. PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES: . Supervise a line team of 4 cooks in the prep and execution of menu items under direction of Executive Chef and Sous Chefs. Write daily menu feature with Chefs' guidance act as Quality Control Monitor for all food presentation, preparation and storage. . Assist in training culinary staff in proper techniques of professional cooking as directed by Executive Chef. . Effectively delegate and direct line staff to ensure all work is done in a timely and efficient manner that ensures the highest quality food production. . Assist in controlling costs by: ensuring all specs are adhered to; monitoring labor levels; and maintaining kitchen organization. . Motivate and coach culinary team. . Supervise safety and sanitation guidelines and procedures. . Set an example for all staff by following employee handbook policies and procedures including grooming, attendance, punctuality, food safety and sanitation. JOB REQUIREMENTS: . Effective communication to both management and employees through written and verbal skills. . Maintain a confident and calm presence. . Make logical, intellectual, creative and critical decisions. . Be self-motivated, organized and disciplined in work performance. . Possess a culinary degree and/ or minimum 3 years experience in high quality kitchen, including management responsibilities. . Ability to stand, sit, grasp, lift and carry up to 50 pounds; walk, kneel, squat, bend, push and pull. . Must have flexibility in scheduling, including weekends and holidays. No scheduling restrictions, please.

COMPENSATION:
Based on experience.
