GENERAL MANAGER
FACILITIES DESCRIPTION:
The Stonington Harbor Yacht Club (www.shyc.us) was founded in 2002 and is located in southeastern CT on Fishers Island Sound. Its mission is to promote excellence in boating activities among its members and throughout the community. The club operates year-round offering a full range of boating activities and events (i.e. racing, cruising, fishing, kayaking, dock facilities), related social events, and exclusive dining. The Club has 350 members and operates in new owned facilities with a $2 million annual budget.
POSITION QUALIFICATIONS:
The position of General Manager is the top operating position in the Club. This person is the overall manager of operations and is responsible for ensuring a hospitable atmosphere at the Clubhouse. The General Manager reports to the Board of Directors of the Club and hires, supervises and trains staff. The General Manager (i) exercises financial control based on an annual budget, (ii) markets, plans and carries out events, (iii) staffs the work of Officers, major committees and the Board, especially in relation to finance, house, membership, marketing and communications, (iv) oversees purchasing and vendor relations, (v) ensures regulatory and legal compliance and (vi) maintains positive community and interclub relations. JOB REQUIREMENTS: Our candidate will have broad based experience of leading successful teams within the club or hospitality industries. "People skills" such as ability to recognize members, provide a welcome to members and visitors and create teamwork within staff are keys to success. We particularly value a reputation for integrity and ethical practice as well as excellent planning, training, communication and leadership skills. It is important to be comfortable with an automated financial system. A knowledge of or interest in recreational boating is not required, but is a plus.
COMPENSATION:
Compensation, which includes salary, incentive compensation, health and dental coverage will be commensurate with the candidate's capabilities. Relocation assistance will also be considered for the right candidate
