CLUBHOUSE MANAGER
FACILITIES DESCRIPTION:
Shelter Harbor Golf Club is a private, 27 hole facility designed by Hurdzan & Fry. It is a member owned club located in Charlestown, RI and opened for play in September 2004. The clubhouse includes a dining room, outdoor dining space, area for large tent, state of the art fitness center, locker rooms, private dining rooms and a golf shop. The clubhouse is seasonal, open from mid May through Columbus Day weekend. The dining room is reputed to be the finest in South County. Members primarily live in the Fairfield County, Westchester County and Boston area. There are also over 30 members who live locally in RI year round. The club has a very busy social and golf calendar. There are two four-bedroom cottages on the grounds which are rented out by members. Food revenue is approx. $550,000, beverage revenue $275,000.
The current Clubhouse Manager has accepted the General Manager’s position at a premier private country club in Connecticut.
POSITION DESCRIPTION:
The Clubhouse Manager reports directly to the GM with direction from the House Committee. He/she is responsible for all areas of the operation except Golf, Grounds and Accounting Department. This individual will work closely with the General Manager regarding clubhouse staffing, retention and development. Responsibilities also include overseeing a strong culinary team, a beverage operation as well as a highly regarded wine program. He/She will oversee all operations including member services, planning and execution of all social events, oversee staff housing, as well as implement policies established by the Board. A detailed job description will be available for those at the final interview stage
POSITION QUALIFICATIONS:
Minimum 3 years club management experience. The ideal candidate should have at least a bachelors or associates degree in hospitality. He/she should have an eye for detail, be ambitious and industrious, have the ability to lead and train a dedicated team, as well as be a motivator. A solid understanding of financial management is critical and the ability to develop and follow a budget a necessity. He/she must have good communication skills, and be able to represent the club in a professional manner. An active participant in NECMA/CMAA is preferred. A solid understanding of Excel, Microsoft Word, Publisher and Jonas Software is important.
Staffing: He/She will oversee Executive Chef, Facilities Manager/Housekeeping Manager, Membership Director, Dining Room Manager, Beverage Manager, and Locker Room Supervisor and all staff associated with these departments.
Schedule: Full time, year round position. The clubhouse is open 7 days in July and August with a varied scheduled in those other months that the Clubhouse is open.
COMPENSATION:
Salary range is $65,000 - $70,000
Will include:
Base salary, bonus program, family health and dental insurance with a co-pay, 2 weeks annual vacation, life insurance, clothing and dining allowance, club blackberry, NECMA and CMAA membership, education allowance, participation is a Safe Harbor 401k with 4% of gross compensation paid by club, eligible after one year of service.
