BEVERLY YACHT CLUB Marion, Massachusetts
Beverly Yacht Club was established in 1872 to foster racing in small boats. The racing heritage continues and is augmented by a strong summer Junior program, an active cruising community and many year round social activities. The clubhouse on the inner harbor in Marion was acquired in 1957 and has been the home of the club ever since. The purpose of the club is to promote yachting and good fellowship among its members. We endeavor to do this in an informal and welcoming environment. Beverly is a typical yacht club with 500 members, traditional yacht facilities: dock, launches, moorings and visiting yacht facilities, coupled with a kitchen and bar. The club offers daily dining in the summer months, informal "Pub Nite" dining on Fridays all year and regular special events. The club is host to many sailing events including Buzzard's Bay regatta, the Marion Bermuda race and private parties and weddings. The total Club budget is $1.3 million ($1 million summer) with food service generating $260K and beverage service $125K. There are 45 employees during the summer operation. Club oversight is provided by the Flag Officers and an all volunteer Council of committee heads.
The Club Manager is responsible for the overall operation of the club and will know how to improve the club through better management. The ideal candidate for the Club Manager position will be energetic, personable creative and professional. He or she will have demonstrated leadership abilities, a dedication to excellence, strong managerial experience and an intuitive feel for hiring and developing pleasant, efficient, service-oriented teams in the private club environment. - Personnel hiring, development, motivation and evaluation
- Innovation in the food and beverage service areas
- Planning, budgeting, analysis and control
- Facilities planning and maintenance
- Effective communication with Club Management, staff and members
- Developing long-term goals and plans to meet them
- Identifying problems and working with the organization to resolve them
Additional desirable experience:
