MANAGER/EVENT PLANNER
FACILITIES
DESCRIPTION:
The
Maynard Sporting Club (DBA The Maynard Rod and Gun Club, Inc.) is a private,
non-profit social club located on approximately 40 acres in Maynard MA,
approximately 20 miles west of Boston, adjacent to the
towns of Concord, Acton, and Sudbury. Our 400 + members
participate in the sports of Archery, Shooting Sports, and Fishing, along with
general camaraderie. Revenues generated from Functions and Events held on the
club grounds, in addition to those generated from the Member's Lounge, support
these activities. The "Firelight Room" is our Function Hall which
seats 250+, and boasts a floor to ceiling stone fireplace, a perfect backdrop
for weddings, and autumn functions. The Picnic Grove contains a 50 ft. by 100
ft. covered pavilion with a covered barbeque area, service bar, and other
amenities such as horseshoes, volleyball, softball, and small trout pond. The
grounds can easily accommodate outdoor corporate events and weddings for as
many as 500 people. Our Member's Lounge area is open daily from 3 PM to 11 AM daily, and noon to midnight on weekends. Members
enjoy wide screen TV, pool table, darts, etc. Seating capacity is 50 persons.
Expansion possibilities include extended hours of service, limited food
service, and additional seating capacity on an outdoor deck.
CANDIDATE
QUALIFICATIONS:
The
ideal candidate for the Club Manager/Event Planner position must be energetic,
personable, and professional. Must be able to demonstrate a proven track record
in identifying and securing growth opportunities. Candidate must be detail
oriented, and have strong computer and financial skills. Visibility to the
customer, and strong interpersonal skills, will be a priority. Prior experience
with management of bar and wait staff, and cleaning and maintenance staff, is
essential, as the position will oversee this team. The Club Manager/Event
Planner will report directly to the Club's Executive Board. The Ideal candidate
will have at a minimum two to three years experience as a Club Manager, or Assistant
Manager of a private social club, with extensive knowledge of the beverage
service industry. Proven abilities in Lounge Management, with prior experience
in Event Planning and/or Catering Sales, is a must. Candidate must demonstrate
a proven track record of increased event sales growth.
POSITION
VALUE/COMPENSATION:
Compensation
will be a combination of a salary and commission based pay, the range of which
will be commensurate with candidates' experience. The Club would prefer a
candidate from the New England area, as travel and relocation
reimbursement expenses cannot be accommodated.
APPLICATION

The
current manager will serve for the remainder of 2009, and has agreed to assist
in a transitional period. This position will be hired during Q4 of 2009, and
must be fully transitioned in January of 2010. Accordingly, all applications
