PROPERTY DESCRIPTION:
Established in 1877 and located in Chestnut Hill, MA, the Longwood Cricket Club is recognized as one of the premier tennis clubs in the United States with a history of involvement in amateur and professional tennis. The site of the first Davis Cup competition, the Club currently has over 700 active members. The Club’s grounds includes 24 meticulously maintained grass courts and 19 har-tru courts as well as an historic clubhouse with snack bar and bar facilities, and three swimming pools. Over the past decade the Club’s facilities have been extensively renovated. The Club is seasonal; open to the members from April thru October and for functions during the off-season.

POSITION DESCRIPTION:
The Club is seeking a new General Manager. Reporting to the President of the Board of Governors, the General Manager serves as the pivotal link between the Board and the Club’s senior managers. The General Manager is responsible for day-to-day operations of the Club, including but not limited to: financial management (operating and capital budget development and monitoring); facilities management, member services, human resources, policy development and implementation, vendor relations, and event planning and management. This position is highly visible with significant interaction with the members and their guests. The General Manager works closely with Board committees and the general membership on issues of concern to the Club. The General Manager oversees 10 full time and 100 seasonal employees. Direct reports to the General Manager include: Head Tennis Professional, Head Groundskeeper, Food and Beverage Director; Controller, and Executive Secretary.

While Longwood Cricket Club is grounded in tradition, its members are eager to enjoy progressive and top-rate programs and services throughout the Club. The Club is looking for a talented and experienced professional who will manage the Club and it’s staff, offer world class service to the membership, and provide support and strategic options to the Board of Governors. This is a rare opportunity to lead this effort and make a huge impact at a very special, friendly, and unique club.

QUALIFICATIONS:
Longwood seeks a highly motivated professional with around 10 plus years of experience in a similar environment in the club management or the hospitality business. He/she must be able to communicate well with and work collaboratively with the department heads; staff, the Club members, and the Club’s Board. The General Manager must also have a strong background in financials, budget development, cost controls and computer systems. The ideal candidate will be able to work well with committees and be able to capitalize on member involvement and participation in the committee process.

COMPENSATION:
The position offers a competitive level of compensation including a base salary, a bonus plan, and a comprehensive benefits package.
