POSITION DESCRIPTION AND QUALIFICATIONS:
The General Manager of The Carnegie Abbey Club reports directly to the owner of the Club. Direct Reports: Director of Golf, Clubhouse/Food & Beverage Manager, Marina Director, Equestrian Director, and Event Sales Manager. The General Manager is responsible for the strategic and day to day management of the Carnegie Abbey Club. Essential Duties and Responsibilities include the following. Other duties may be assigned.

Operational Responsibilities: Develops, maintains and administers a profitable and growth oriented organizational plan; constantly initiates improvements. Creates and enforces daily the Club's long range and annual business plan. Creates operating and capital budgets; drives the budgets daily, monthly. Manages the care and maintenance of all the club's physical assets and facilities to a five-star standard. Ensures the highest standards of service and profitability for food, beverage, sports and recreation, entertainment and other club services. Analyzes financial statements, manages cash flow and establishes controls to safeguard funds. Drives income and costs relative to goals; takes corrective action daily. Manages subordinate department heads to drive scheduling, supervision and to direct the work of all employees. Consistently assures that the club is operated in accordance with all applicable local, state and federal laws.

Communications: Accompanies the Owner of the Club to the Advisory Board as requested. Coordinates and serves as member of appropriate club committees. Attends meetings of the Club's Executive Committee and Board of Directors. Oversees all outgoing communications from the Club ensuring appropriate and adequate information is regularly provided to members

Sales: Manages both the Membership and Events sales staff, ensuring that all are working toward the goal of a full membership and a full schedule of Club utilization. Works closely with the real estate sales team on the partnership between the Club and the real estate offerings and sales presentations to ensure sales goals are met. Establishes deep relationships with all new club members and existing club members during their visits to the club. Coordinates the marketing and membership relations programs to promote the club's services and facilities to potential and present members.

Recruit and Retain Highest Level Staff: Establishes an aggressive personnel policy designed to attract "A" talent; initiates and monitors policies relating to personnel actions and training and professional development programs. Establishes and guarantees managers' compliance with aggressive, cost conscious purchasing policies and procedures.

External Relations: Maintains membership with the Club Managers Association of America and other professional associations. Attends conferences, workshops and meetings to keep abreast of current information and developments in the field. Participates in outside activities that are judged as appropriate and approved by the Owner to enhance the prestige of the club; broadens the scope of the club's operation by fulfilling the public obligations of the Club as a participating member of the community.

Competencies Required: The ideal candidate will have proven and verifiable leadership qualities and demonstrated ability to teach, recruit, train, direct, coordinate and control all facets of a high end, full service club with 300+ members and 200+ staff members. The GM should be able to communicate regularly in a clear and effective manner with members, staff, and management. The GM must convey and enforce the vision and standards for excellence through the entire team and ensure that all management and staff are delivering service to the highest level possible. The GM must lead and develop team members and delegate effectively. The GM must be systems oriented, detail oriented, and have strong financial management skills. The GM must have experience managing a multi-million dollar operating budget, and be able to manage that budget and implement an aggressive financial plan generates profit for the Club as a whole. The GM must be proactive and make adjustments to the budget, looking ahead and taking appropriate courses of action based on financial performance. The GM must be able to handle operational issues and work at the level of fine detail. The GM must be able to work strategically and plan for the future of the Club. The GM must maintain a 20 or below handicap.


COMPENSATION:
Base Salary, plus bonus and commissions. Comprehensive benefits package.
