CLUBHOUSE MANAGER

         
PROPERTY DESCRIPTION:
The Union Club of Boston, a 145 year old member-owned city club with 600 members seeks a Clubhouse Manager.  The UC is a $2.85M revenue Club.  ($1.5M F/B, $1M Dues and 350K Lodging.)  The historic Beacon Hill Club House features 12 private dining rooms (the largest seating 120, some seating 8 - 10), an a la carte fine dining room seating 50, a bar / tavern room (serving informal lunch - soup and sands only), and ten historically appropriate overnight rooms.  The Club has 100 reciprocal clubs located in principal cities throughout the United Sates and abroad. 

POSITION DESCRIPTION:
The Clubhouse Manager is responsible for the execution of most front-of-the-house operations. This individual must be a hands-on, detail-oriented team player who is able to recruit, train, and maintain a committed service staff.  Strong culinary knowledge is paramount.  Additional responsibilities include departmental budgeting, facilities maintenance, and working with member committees.  The ideal candidate will have a minimum of 5 years hospitality experience and should possess prior private club and/or hotel management experience. A hospitality degree is preferred.  The position is available immediately.

Current Management structure includes a GM, a Clubhouse Manager, an Assistant Manager, several Function Captains and a Director of Member Services.  The UC endorses the CMAA General Manager / COO operating concept.

COMPENSATION:
Salary is commensurate with experience and qualifications. Benefits include health insurance, vacation, 401 k with ER match, mid-year and year end bonuses and CMAA package.  Hours are generally Monday - Friday 2:00 PM– 10:00 PM.  (The Club is generally closed Monday evenings and each evening in July and August and most major holidays.)  Approximately fifteen Saturdays per year the Club is open for seasonal and special events.  With rare exception the Club is closed on Sunday.  The two previous Clubhouse Managers worked 3 - 4 years, nearly completing their CCM designations and have assumed GM positions.
