CONCORD COUNTRY CLUB, Concord, Massachusetts GENERAL MANAGER
FACILITIES DESCRIPTION: Concord Country Club is a 113-year-old private, member owned, club with 535 members. Located in historic Concord, Massachusetts, approximately 20 miles from Boston in a rural setting with easy access to major highways (including routes 2, 95, 495 and the Mass Pike). Member life at the Concord Country Club centers around the Clubs many recreational facilities including an 18 hole Donald Ross golf course ( host of the 2007 Men's Massachusetts State Amateur golf championship), a new pool with diving and slide wells and children's pool, eight clay tennis courts, and three paddle courts. In season (May through September) The Club is open seven days a week. Off season the Club runs on a modified schedule with limited activities and staff. The main clubhouse features a large dining room with terrace seating and a more intimate Member's Dining Room. Additional snack bar facilities are located at the pool/tennis complex.
CANDIDATE QUALIFICATIONS: The General Manager functions as the Club's Chief Operating Officer and is responsible for carrying out the Board's policies with direct report to the Club's President. The General Manager is responsible for oversight and management of all the Club's facilities - including the clubhouse, foodservice, pool and tennis facility and golf course. The following positions report directly to the General Manager - Controller, Administrator, Clubhouse Manager, Head Golf Professional, Greens Superintendent, Pool Director, Head Tennis Professional, and Maintenance Supervisor.
Generally, candidates should possess a Bachelor's degree from an accredited four-year University in the major of Hospitality, Recreation Management, Business Administration or a closely related field. A master degree (MBA) is preferred. There is no license or certification required, but Certified Club Manager (CMA) designation is helpful. Prior experience as a General Manager is necessary. In addition, the ideal candidate should have strong interpersonal and communication skills and be comfortable working and interacting with a diverse constituency -including Board of Governors, Members, and Staff. Candidate should have a proven history of leadership and be able to manage and motivate staff and coordinate across departments. Organizational and financial management skills are a necessary requirement of the job as well as a working knowledge of computers and systems. Previous Privare Club experience is preferred.
