NASHAWTUC COUNTRY CLUB, Concord, Massachusetts
GENERAL MANAGER/CHIEF OPERATING OFFICER

FACILITIES DESCRIPTION:
Concord, Massachusetts is a town rich in cultural heritage, famous as both the site of one of the first battles of the American Revolution and home of authors Alcott, Emerson, Hawthorne and Thoreau. The Minute Man National Historical Park manages the North Bridge Battleground area. Concord today fosters the arts, having a chorus, orchestra, band, theater companies, two arts centers, museum, historically significant houses, and a center for the performing arts. Education is a community priority with over 80% of Concord's budget dedicated to education. Houses of worship represent many denominations. This is one of the country's top quality-of-life communities and sits just 20 minutes from Boston. Convenient to New England's finest recreational, cultural, historic and academic facilities. Nashawtuc Country Club is a casually elegant, family-oriented private club with a diverse membership. Age of members is trending lower. This club uniquely enjoys a long wait list and no homes on the golf course. The board of directors of this fine, traditional country club is fully committed to the Chief Operating Officer concept.

Club is open 6 days per week, 11 months per year.

POSITION DESCRIPTION:
The GM/COO reports directly to the Board of Directors through its President and is, per the club's by-laws, responsible for all day-to-day management of this family-friendly private club. The board sets policy and philosophy; the COO implements. The club is proud of its many long term employes, some over 30 years. A players' coach type COO will organize and mobilize the team toward a vision of member service, fiscal responsibility, a consistent member experience and updated facilities. S/he is a credible, club management professional capable of serving as a resource to the board. Search America's board-approved job description for this search will be attached to the successful candidate's employment agreement and will be used as the same criteria for periodic on-the-job performance evaluation.

CANDIDATE QUALIFICATIONS:
The club's board of directors has unanimously engaged the international club specialist, Search America (www.SearchAmericaNow.com), to recruit candidates with over 8 years progressively responsible, stable private club senior management experience. The ideal individual must fit culturally into this fine suburban Boston community. The nice, unpretentious people of Nashawtuc Country Club are representative of the town's diverse culture. Skills must include F&B, administration, renovation, instituting an esprit de corps, a secure working environment and training of staff. S/he must be able to manage down as well as up as s/he guides the board and committees. This position is less demanding of hands-on management and more focused on leadership. We are seeking a confident general, not a sergeant; a charismatic people-person and all that implies. Job-hoppers who have changed jobs every 2 years need not apply.

JOB VALUE/COMPENSATION:
The Chief Operating Officer will be appropriately compensated, incentivized and granted benefits consistent with the scope of responsibility, experience and skill required. Search America is a retained executive search firm specializing in the private club field worldwide since 1974. The firm's fees are paid by the client club. The club will reimburse expenses incurred by candidates whom the firm invites to the final interviews.

The club will pay usual and customary fees associated with interviewing. The club will offer an employment contract/agreement to the successful candidate. The club has had 3 managers employed (in this position) in the past ten years.

DEADLINE: Available
Final interviews just before or after Thanksgiving
