The Lanam Club, formerly the William Wood Mansion (1916) is a 50-year-old, member owned private business/dining club with 300 members. Gross dollar volume $1.7m, annual food & beverage sales of around $1 million. The Club is renowned for the high quality of its food and beverage operation and standards of service. Facilities include two floors of private dining, three acres of landscaped gardens and a large 40 x 40 seasonal tent. From quiet dining to large formal functions and busy member events, the club is an ideal setting for a unique dining experience. The Club is open six days a week (Sundays for holidays and private parties only), eleven months per year.
The General Manager is responsible for all aspects of club operations, and reports directly to the Board of Directors. The general manager will coordinate and administer the club’s policies as defined by the board of directors; oversee the work of department managers - an Assistant Manager, Executive Chef, Office Manager and Dining Room Manager.
The General Manager will be responsible for developing and maintaining both operating and capital budgets, monitor monthly and other financial statements for the club; monitor the quality of the club’s products and services and ensures maximum member and guest satisfaction; coordinate and serve as ex-officio member of appropriate club committees; welcome new club members; act as host to all members and guests; plan and coordinate a busy calendar of club events. This individual must be able to recruit, train and retain an involved and caring staff.
The Lanam Club is also embarking on a strategic plan which could amplify the club’s offerings (i.e. informal dinning while preserving the elegant setting we have.) The new General Manager will be a key player in this. Lastly, this position requires a high degree of visibility and a ‘hands–on’ approach within the club. Knowledge of all aspects of fine dining essential, and the successful candidate must have strong leadership, people and financial skills.
Salary is $80,000 - 90,000 commensurate with experience and qualifications with a potential of an additional 10% performance bonus. Medical and dental insurance (club pays 80% of premiums), clothing allowance, vacation plan, all dues and fees associated with CMAA/NECMA, and all other standard employee benefits.
