PLYMOUTH COUNTRY CLUB, Plymouth, Massachusetts GENERAL MANAGER
FACILITY DESCRIPTION
This past December our old clubhouse was razed and a new facility is now under construction to better serve our 400 members. We are basically a GOLF CLUB and have no pool, tennis or fitness center facilities. We have designed the new clubhouse to be able to accommodate outside functions in one area and member activities in another on the same day and we want to promote outside use of these facilities as a revenue generating profit center. The Club will be open year round with breakfast and lunch served daily. Dinners will be offered to the members and their guests once or twice a month and there will be regular member golf tournament events which will include lunch and/or dinner throughout the season. Our Donald Ross designed course is one of the best maintained in New England and we believe it to be the gem of his long career.
JOB DESCRIPTION
The General Manager will be the chief operating officer reporting directly to the president of the Club and is expected to work collaboratively with all standing committees. He will assist the Board in preparing annual budgets and be responsible for oversight and for the meeting of those budgets throughout the operating year. He will be responsible for all personnel matters of all employees and assure that the Club is in compliance with all local, state and federal laws and regulations. He will be in charge of, or have oversight of, all purchasing and insurance requirements of the Club. While he will have oversight of all wages and hours of all employees, he will have no direct responsibility for the activities of the Golf Course Superintendent or the Golf Professional’s shop.
QUALIFICATIONS
The candidate will have a minimum of 5 years experience as general manager in the hospitality industry with a proven record of strong financial, operational and personnel management achievements. The ideal candidate will be passionate, energetic, personable, professional, service-oriented, and respectful of employees and members. It will be of utmost importance to maintain contact with members in order to assure maximum membership satisfaction and to receive, investigate and act upon complaints from members, guests and employees in a positive and timely manner.
DEADLINE
The new clubhouse is expected to be fully operational by early September but the need is for the General Manager to be in place by June 1 in order to finalize the opening of the clubhouse, hire staff and schedule events. This new beginning will set the tone and vision of the future.
Salary: $85,000 to $115,000 based upon experience. Other Benefits include: Health, vacation and 401K per Plymouth Country Club employee policies.
