NECMA WEB SITE SERVICES
Webmaster - Peter Trombetta
The New England Chapter web site, the first of its kind at the CMAA Chapter level, went online on April 25, 1997, just six short months after CMAA's ClubNet® went live on the world wide web. NECMA launched its newest web site on January 8, 2007 [read news release] on the tenth year anniversary of its first launch. The Award-Winning NECMA Web Site at www.necma.org provides information on the New England Chapter such as Education and Professional Development, Sites and Meetings listings and online registration for events, Executive Career Services Job Opening Listings, Real-time Chapter News and lots more.
Other notable services on the NECMA web site includes NECMA Club Classified Ads, NECMA/Allied Association Community Calendar, and NECMA Online Surveys.
NECMA Web Site Services is pleased to provide web pages supporting the CMAA Region I-II-III Alliance, and New England Allied Associations events and activities, as well as information on the CMAA World Conference on Club Management.
The New England Chapter is the proud recipient of the 1998 Idea Fair for Chapters - Creative Use of Technology - First Place Award for its Web Site at www.necma.org.
NECMA.MOBI
necma.mobi offers NECMA members (and the general wireless internet community) access to up-to-date Chapter news, contact information, driving directions, event reservations, and more 24/7 from the convenient of a mobile phone or wireless PDA. necma.mobi may be accessed by setting mobile phone web browsers to Go To: necma.mobi or http://necma.mobi.
necma.mobi is NECMA's second generation (G2) mobile website; the first generation site, NECMA On-The-Go - Mobile Computing was launched at the NECMA Spring Technology Conference on April 12, 1999 at Endicott College in Beverly, Mass (read news release).
The New England Chapter is well known within the CMAA community for being a leader in technology. In April 1997, NECMA was the first CMAA Chapter to launch a website - www.necma.org - which had a three-fold purpose:
- To locally promote the club management industry with a "public face" on the world wide web,
- To better inform members with up-to-the-minute news and information on Chapter business, education sessions and social events in hopes to encourage participation, and
- To promote the 7th Annual Assistant Club Managers Conference hosted by the New England Chapter in Boston in October 1997.
Ten years later, the NECMA website (aka "NECMA Central") continues to fulfill its original purposes and has grown to become a model for CMAA Chapters across the country with its highly-interactive features such as online event reservations, regular online member surveys and polls, and timely email broadcasted announcements and reminders of upcoming Chapter events.
The NECMA website and NECMA-On-The-Go have won several CMAA Idea Fair for Chapters first place blue ribbons for Creative Use of Technology; most recently in 2006 for its NECMA Manager of the Year Award Online Nomination Form, and we are confident necma.mobi will receive its due recognition with a blue ribbon at next year's CMAA Idea Fair for Chapter.
Researchers say that 1.3 billion people will connect to the Internet via mobile phones by 2008, and NECMA is ready, and will continue to "raise the bar" with the latest technology solutions to continue to better serve its members and further promote the club management profession.
