NECMA Members and Clubs IN THE NEWS The NECMA Media Relations Committee has launched a new media campagin to further spread the good news about NECMA Members and their clubs - NECMA Members and Clubs IN THE NEWS . NECMA will reprint published news articles on its web site at www.necma.org . NECMA Members are asked to tell us of any NECMA Member or club-realated print articles in the news - use this convenience online form or email news@necma.org , and w e will reprint the articles on the NECMA web site under "Chapter News" (pending permission from the publisher) .

- 80 percent of CMAA members' clubs are golf and country clubs
- 11 percent of CMAA members' clubs are city clubs

- 71 percent of CMAA members' clubs are IRS classified tax-exempt 501(c)(7) organizations

- Gross revenues equaled $13 billion for all clubs in 2008.
- Food and beverage revenues equal $3.8 billion.
- The average club’s gross income is $5.5 million.
Club Employees
- Clubs employ 290,749 employees.
- Club payrolls equal $5.3 billion.
Club Outreach Programs
- Clubs raised $385 million for charities in 2008.
- In 2008, clubs distributed $7.6 million in student scholarships.
- Most of CMAA’s 46 chapters sponsor scholarship funds.
Economic Impact of Clubs
- Clubs spend $2.79 billion in their respective local community as a whole.
- Clubs spend $2.9 billion within their state as a whole.
- Clubs as a whole paid $351 million in real-estate taxes, $708 million in payroll taxes, $528 million in sales tax and $218 million in other taxes (i.e., liquor, excise, occupancy and school).
